THE ASSOCIATION

INTRODUCTION

The Sanitation Association De Latinos (S.A.L.) is a fraternal organization designed to celebrate and promote understanding of Latino culture among all Department employees.  The association is open to all members of the Department of Sanitaiton regardless of civil service status or cultural background.  One of our primary goals is for the membership to represent the various titles and diverse cultural origins of all Department employees.  The Board consist of the following individuals: Jose Garcia (MNBO), Robert Oliveras (MN09), Nancy Colon (OMD), Alice Zayas (CLNING), Edgar Soto (MN08), Roberto Cruz (BKN 05), and Richard Ortega (MN ENF). Our General Membership meetings are held on the FIRST THURSDAY of the month.  In keeping with our agenda of "Bringing it to our members," we try to hold our meetings in centrally located areas around the city and in every borough.  We are always looking for new ways to get to YOU.  Let us know if you know of a good place to meet.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Sanitation Association De Latinos is to benefit and foster the spirit of unity among all Latino employees of the Department of Sanitation.  In executing this mission, the association will strive to offer social activities and services which will promote the cultural diversity and heritage of its members and encourage understanding of cultural identity within the Department among Latinos and non-Latinos.
