Supervisor Tommy Bigler a veteran officer was assigned to Bx-01 Sect 12.

Supervisor Thomas Bigler passed after losing his battle with cancer.

 Sanitation Worker, Angel Roldan (Bx-11)

 

 

 Sanitation worker Angel Roldan an 11 year veteran of the Dept. was struck by

a civilian vehicle outside his garage on Zerega Ave in the Bronx .

Sanitation Worker, Frank Justich (QW-01)

 

 

 Sanitation worker Frank Justich an 11 year veteran of the Dept., died

as a result of injuries sustained from a motor vechicle accident while on duty.

Sanitation Worker, Richard Timmins (QE-11)

 

 

Sanitation worker Richard Timmins a 5 year veteran of the Department died in the line of duty.

Chief, Renzo Ferrari, (Chief of Bureau Operations)

 

 

   Chief Ferrari, (a 30 year veteran of the depatment), began his career with the Department as a

 Sanitation Worker assigned to Manhattan District 8 Garage, steadily rose through the ranks,

 including as Supervisor assigned to Queens West District 5 Garage, General Superintendent Level I

 assigned to the Brooklyn North Boro Office, and his final assignment as the Chief of Bureau Operations.

 

"The Department, among our ranks, is also called the 'Sanitation family' and as such, we lost a well- loved

member of our family, Chief Renzo Ferrari.

 

A plaque honoring Chief Ferrari is permanently installed outside Room 823 - the

Department of Sanitation's Bureau Operations Office -- in remembrance of his dedication

to service and commitment to duty.

 Sanitation Worker, Steven Dixon (QE-14)

 

 

Sanitation worker Steven Dixon, (61 years of age), a 19 year veteran died in the line of duty.

The Department of Sanitation renamed Queens District 14 Garage in his honor.

 Chief Richard Beverly, (Queens East Borough Commissioner)

 

 

 

 

 

Chief Beverly began his career as a Sanitation Worker on July 23, 1987. In 1993, he was promoted to Supervisor and assigned to Bronx 6 district.  His next assignment was Bronx 9, where he served as the Garage Supervisor.  In 1999, he was promoted to General Superintendent and was first assigned to Brooklyn South 17 and then to Bronx 11. He was promoted in 2001 to Deputy Chief and was assigned to supervise Bronx Districts 10, 11, and 12.

 

Upon his promotion to Assistant Chief in May 2006, Chief Beverly was initially assigned to the Cleaning Office, but, was soon reassigned as the Director of the Department’s Field Inspection and Audit Team (FIAT)

 

After his tenure at FIAT, he was assigned as Borough Chief for Queens East Borough command where he was responsible for borough operations from street cleaning, to the collection of trash and recycling, and snow and ice removal in the entire eastern section of the borough.

Clerical Associate, Georgina Hickey passed away unexpectantly.

Supervisor, Edward,"Eddie", Thomas (Mn-07 - Ret.)

 

Supervisor Eddie Thomas a veteran officer was assigned to Man 07. Supervisor Edward Thomas

passed away shortly after retiring.

Sanitation Worker, Minerva Montañez (Bx-01)

 

Sanitation worker Minerva, "MINI", Montañez was  a 19 year veteran of the

Department who operated an E-Z Pack while assigned to BX-01 Garage. Sanitation worker

Minerva Montañez passed after losing her battle with cancer.

Sanitation worker Edward Hunt a 8 year veteran of the department was murdered on his

way to work outside his vehicle in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

Sanitation Worker, NELSON DIAZ (Bx-04) 

 

 

Sanitation worker Nelson Diaz died in the line of duty. The Department

of Sanitation renamed Bronx 04 Garage in his honor.

P.A.A, Williscean Young (P.M.D.)

 

  

P.A.A., Williscean,"Wille", Young was a long time veteran of the Department. Ms. Young was

an icon for many years at Man 07 garage. Ms. Young was a friend to all who knew her.

 Supervisor, Carmine Ranallo (Bx-09)

 

 

 Supervisor Carmine Randallo assigned to Bronx 09 as an R\O passed away unexpectantly.

 Sanitation Worker, Rafael Conception (Bx-06)

 

 

Sanitation worker Rafael Conception died as a result of injuries sustained from a

motor vechicle accident while on duty. The Department  of Sanitation renamed 

Bronx 06 Garage in his honor.

Sanitation Worker, Damon Allen (Mn-10)

 

 

Sanitation worker Damon Allen who was once hailed as a hero, (by the City of New York), for

helping to rescue a 4 year old girl from a fire was murdered in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

Sanitation Worker, Allen Gormely (BkS-13)

 

 

Sanitation worker Allen Gormely a 21 year veteran of the Department died in the line

of duty. The Department of Sanitation renamed BKS-13 Garage in his honor.

Sanitation worker Micheal Occhino a 2 year veteran of the  department died

as a result of injuries sustained from a motor vechicle accident while on duty.

Clerical Associate Rose Santiago a veteran of many years at the

Bronx Borough passed away after losing her battle with cancer.

Clerical Associate Faith Floss passed away after a lenghty illness.

Faith was the heart and soul on the midnight to eight shift at the Bronx Borough.

She was always ready to lend a helping hand to all newcomers on the shift.

District Superintendent, Mercellus Clarke (Mn-10 D\S)

 

 

District Superintendent Mercellus Clarke, worked the cleanup down at Ground Zero.

As a Supervisor he was instrumental in the initial success of the Slice Program in Man-03. 

His last assignment was that of "The Super" in Man-10.

 Supervisor Daniel, "Danny", Sanchez, a 24 year veteran of the Dept. died in the line of duty.

The southwest corner of E 123rd St & Third Ave. in Manhattan was renamed,

"Daniel Sanchez Way", in his honor.

 Sanitation worker Eva Barrientos, a 9 year veteran was the first Female to died in

the line of duty. The  Department of Sanitation renamed BKN-04 Garage in her honor.

 Supervisor Ronald F.,"Ronnie", DiCarlo, a 24 year veteran of the Dept. retired to take care

of his wife and grandchildren, died after suffering a brain aneurysm while enroute to his retirement party.

The Department renamed Floyd Bennett training as the Ronald F. Dicarlo Training Academy

Supervisor Richie Lodovichetti, (the 4pm to midnight Garage Supervisor at Mn 06), died

as a result of injuries sustained from a motor vechicle accident while communting home

after his shift was completed.

Sanitation worker Christina Losey passed unexpectantly due to complications

associated with the birth of her child.

at Brooklyn South 16's garage for his tour of duty one Summer morning.
